One-to-one yoga sessions are a great way to receive focused yoga teaching which can be tailored to address your specific requirements. A session can be used to create an individual programme, to explore aspects of yoga such as breathing and relaxation techniques or to support a regular yoga practice.
A private small group class or a one-to-one may also be a good introduction to yoga for beginners who wish to explore the basics of a yoga practice before joining a group class.
A one-to-one yoga session will involve a short consultation covering your objectives and any health concerns followed by practical work based around recommendations for your yoga practice.
Yoga Sports Coaching
Improvements in sporting performance are not just down to the number of hours of training that you put in but are a culmination of physical fitness, refinement of technique, mental focus and self belief. Yoga techniques can be applied to develop all of these aspects. In my experience some of the most powerful and beneficial techniques have been restorative posture work and breathing exercises which are often omitted or not given sufficient attention in sports training programmes.
Yoga is a great addition to training. Some of the benefits of a regular yoga practice include:

- Improvements in concentration
- Shorter recovery times
- Increased mobility and strength
- Improvements in balance and co-ordination
I am a qualified Yoga Sports Coach and completed a post graduate training course with Yoga Sports Science (www.yogasportscience.com) in 2009 to deepen my understanding of the application of yoga techniques to training and competing in sports. During my training I was privileged to work with Hayley Winter who has spent the past 10 years researching and delivering yoga techniques to professional athletes and coaches and with Tim Newenham, Head Coach, England Athletics for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
I have worked with a number of sports people either as individuals or in groups to develop yoga practices to complement their training programmes and to help overcome specific physical or mental barriers to their performance. I also have over 10 years personal experience of including yoga as part of her own training for running and hockey.

Private yoga sessions can be held either at your own venue (travel expenses may apply) or I can arrange a venue (the hire cost will be chargeable). Classes are usually 45 minutes in length but this can be tailored to your needs.
